Whos that pest?

This week in reading me and my class were working on this "Who is that animal pest?" slide as an introduction to our reading topic. We had to read the clues and use the DOC website to solve the problems. Then we had to find a picture and 2-3 facts about each of the pest on the answer slide. I found this activity quite easy to do because I know alot about animals already.

MYTH Map

This week my class made a map on places that Poutini travelled in New Zealand after he stole Waitaiki from Mayor Island.  This legend is a legend from The West Coast and explains the origin of Pounamu.  Here is my map explaining the places he visited.

Hanmer Springs Timeline

WALT: Identify and explain important moments in history using written and visual language features.

Our Task:  With a partner we had to investigate

Hanmer Vocabulary

WALT: Understand and explain scientific language related to Thermal Pools.

 For this task we had to choose a vocabulary word related to Hanmer Spring's and then define it and find out what it had to do with Hanmer.  Finally we had to create a google drawing to share our learning on our blog. I chose the earth's core. Here is what I found out.

This week for free writing I did my league team. My league teams home ground is in Dobson and i live in Dobson it is only down the road .  I enjoyed this writing because its free writing so we can write what ever we want.

Reflections Week 1 Term 4

This is my maths and free writing activities that I completed this week.  I really enjoyed doing the free writing because I have done it in ages.  Next time I would like to work on writing about my cousins or someone else in my family.

This week for literacy we had to do a dlo i like doing dlos because i get lots of practice.  We had to find 5 facts, 5 images and a link to a video

In Maths this week we had to draw a 9 x 9cm square.  We were trying to find the perimeter of the square.  We drew a 9 x 9cm shape in our maths book and then counted the number of square to make up the perimeter.  I learnt how to use a ruler and also to work out the perimeter of a shape.  Something I think I need to work on is doing more of these for practice.

We had to highlight key facts about Exploration.  In blue we found the time facts, in green we found the positive facts, in red we highlighted the negative facts and in yellow we highlighted the reasons why people explore.  I enjoyed this activity, it was fun.  I would like to improve of highlighting key facts not just full sentences.

For prep this year i made wooden cars/trucks/dice/pencil holders/fortune tellers our group was called the wooden workers .

Reflections Week 8 Term 2

This is my Cloze activity and it was quite hard but I got it done in the end.  

I had to describe different things in my story Did you shake your tail feathers?  It was tricky to find examples of all these things.

Reflections Week 9

In maths I learnt how to count in tens to help me solve a problem.  It is easy.

I can use 10's to solve these problems in my maths.
