Numeracy Reflection

WALT: Solve word problems using addition and subtraction.

This week for numeracy we did problem solving.  We had to use addition and subtraction.  I used place value as my strategy. Here is one of the problems that I solved.

For numeracy this week we had to do this DLO about place value.  It was very easy to do.  Now I want to learn to do this with bigger numbers.

Reflections Week 1 Term 4

This is my maths and free writing activities that I completed this week.  I really enjoyed doing the free writing because I have done it in ages.  Next time I would like to work on writing about my cousins or someone else in my family.

In Maths this week we had to draw a 9 x 9cm square.  We were trying to find the perimeter of the square.  We drew a 9 x 9cm shape in our maths book and then counted the number of square to make up the perimeter.  I learnt how to use a ruler and also to work out the perimeter of a shape.  Something I think I need to work on is doing more of these for practice.

We had to highlight key facts about Exploration.  In blue we found the time facts, in green we found the positive facts, in red we highlighted the negative facts and in yellow we highlighted the reasons why people explore.  I enjoyed this activity, it was fun.  I would like to improve of highlighting key facts not just full sentences.

Reflections Week 7 Term 2

For writing this week we had to use similes and metaphors in our work.  This was quite a fun and easy task because I am quite good at describing things.

For word work this week I played Hangman with my spelling words.  I like this because it was really fun to do.

For Maths we had to do face, place and total value.  I am really good at this so I found it easy!  In our fishy numbers we were contracting expanded equations using place value too.

For writing this week we were writing about a discovery.  I thought that this was a really fun and interesting activity.

For numeracy this week we  had to identify ones and tens it was very easy to do our  whole  group  nailed it.

Here we had to do ones and tens, it was very easy for our group.  

For literacy this week we had to create a summary of the order that things happened during the story Peter and the Wolf.

In Maths we were learning expanded addition and counting up in 10's.

Reflections Week 9

In maths I learnt how to count in tens to help me solve a problem.  It is easy.

I can use 10's to solve these problems in my maths.

Week 8 Reflections

We learnt how to add numbers up to 20.  This was a fun activity and I can now do this quickly.
